Objective To study the Full-field digital mammography characteristics of the breast phyllode tumor(PTB) for enhancing the diagnosis of the disease. Methods Clinical manifestation and FFDM findings were retrospectively reviewed in twenty-five women confirmed by surgical pathology. Results (1) The histologic grades of all cases were respectively benign 40.0%(10/25), borderline 16.0%(4/25)and malignant 44.0%(11/25). (2) 88.0%(22/25)of cases showed lobulated mass in FFDM . The percentage of light leaf, deep leaf and without leaf were 28.0%(8/25), 60%(15/25) and 12.0%(3/25) respectively; 64% of cases manifasted part well-defined magin and part vague magin and 68% of tumor is larger than 3cm in diameter . 75.0%(6/8)lesions were malignant during tumors less than 3.0 cm in diameter; The abnormal blood vessel demonstration of PTB is 68.0%(17/25) and were 60% (6/10),50.0% (2/4) and 81.8% (9/11) in benign, borderline and malignant respectively, the demonstration rate of unusual blood vessel was 62.5% (5/8) during tumors less than 3.0 cm in diame and was 70.6%(12/17) during tumors larger than or equal to 3.0 cm in diameter; the calcification rate of PTB is 24%(6/25)and calcifications may be found in all grade PTB, but it is more ofen in benign cases. Most calcifications were large and coarse and some of them manifested pleomorphic calcification. All the differences between the FFDM findings and pathological grade of PTB had no significance(p>0.05). (3) The diagnositic coincidence rate of Full-field digital mammography and Pathology was 68%. Conclusion Several characteristic features of PTB were found in FFDM and clinical manifestation ,therefore FFDM had helpful value for the diagnosis of breast phyllode tumor. |
