Objective: Evaluation of efficacy between air sterilization machine and ultraviolet radiation in the air disinfection of operating room by conducting a meta-analysis. Methods: The CBM, Wanfang, VIP and CNKI databases were searched for all articles published up to June, 2012 that addressed air sterilization machine and ultraviolet radiation in the air disinfection of operating room. Statistical analyses were performed using RevMan 5.1.6 and STATA 12.0 softwares. Results: According to inclusion criteria, eight studies were included. Meta-analysis results showed that there were statistically significant differences between air sterilization machine and ultraviolet radiation in the number of bacteria (SMD=-688.06, 95%CI: -1330.39~-45.7, P=0.04) and total bacteria amount (OR=0.06, 95CI: 0.01~0.34, P=0.001). Conclusion: Results from the current meta-analysis suggested that the air sterilization machine is better than ultraviolet radiation in the air disinfection of operating room, and using air sterilization machine can decrease the rate of surgical infection. |
