Objective To investigate the adverse events reported intention and its influencing factors of private hospitals’ nurses in a region of Jiangsu province, and provide the evidence to improve nursing adverse events reporting system. Methods A cross-sectional design was adopted, using a self-designed questionnaire survey of 601 nurses. Results With the increase of severity level 1 to 4 events, reporting intention of nurses increases;Nurses of different age, working age, education, job title, position and whether shift was no significant difference about reporting intention. Conclusion The adverse events reported intentions of private hospitals’ nurses are positive. Fear of punishment is still the main reason for the report. Specification of adverse events reporting system, building a non – punitive reporting system, create a "security culture" atmosphere, these strategy can encourage nurses to report adverse events . |
