[Abstract] Objective: To study the value of C reactive protein (CRP) in diagnosis of infection among patients with Leukemia, neutropenia after Chemotherapy. Methods: 64 people were divided into three groups: the severe infection group (n=12), the local infection group (n=34) and the non-infection group (n=18). Blood sample was collected in order to determine the level of CRP and absolute neutrophil count (ANC) at the onset of infection. Results: The serum level of CRP in the severe infection group was significantly higher than those in the local infection group and non-infection group (P<0.05). The serum levels of CRP in the local infection group was significantly higher than those in the non-infection group (P<0.05). ANC had no significant difference among the three groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The serum levels of CRP can be an useful indicator in diagnosing neutropenic infection and severity of infection among patients with Leukemia. |
