Objective To analyze the clinical features and relevant factors of anemia for elderly patients in stages 3 to 5 of CKD. Methods This paper makes a retrospective analysis stages 3 to 5 of chronic kidney disease (CKD) as the observing group, based on the clinical data of the enrolled 214 elderly patients (>60). The control group was formed by 173 non-elderly patients (<60) in stages 3 to 5 of CKD. Values were analyzed and compared between them such as the basic clinical features , blood routine, blood biochemical and echocardiographic parameters etc. Results Anemia was observed in 82.7% of the 214 elderly patients cases of the observing group, and 70.5% of the control group (82.7% vs. 70.5% P<0.05). The hemoglobin(Hb) levels (90.8±21.9)g/l in the observing group were significantly lower than the control group(102.0±26.5)g/l, with statistical significance(p<0.05). The degree of anemia of the observing group (>60) was worse than that of the control group (<60) with statistical significance (p<0.05), when patients in stages 3 to 4 of CKD. But it was no statistical significance for patients in stage 5. Meanwhile the cardiovascular events of observing group were more frequently happened, compared with the control group. Furthermore, related analysis also showed that GFR,Alb and Hb had positive correlation, CRP and Hb had negative correlation. Conclusion Anemia is earlier and more frequent happened and more severe in the elderly patients in stages 3 to 5 of CKD, compared with non-elderly patients. It has been found that anemia is closely associated with cardiovascular events. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events, a key step is to understanding the characteristics of elderly patients with renal anemia and rectifying anemia at early period. |
