Context Pituitary adenomas are the most common lesions in saddle area, but other pathologies with similar clinical manifestations ought to be considered in clinical nursing work.Objective To assess the clinical nursing of non-pituitary sellar lesions in a large series of patients, which may aid in recovery and the quality of life . Methods Clinical nursing data of 156 patients who were diagnosed with non-pituitary lesions by postoperative pathology was studied retrospective. Results The most common symptoms were headache, visual field impairment and visual loss. After surgery and careful nursing, post-operative resolution of which occurred in 84% ,63% and 80% respectively. Implement different nursing plans according to different lesions, we found pituitary dysfunction occurred in 3 cases which was normal before operation, diabetes insipidus in 13 and electrolyte disturbance in 8. After careful nursing , they all relieved. Conclusions A substantial minority of sellar lesions are not pituitary adenomas, so in our daily nursing work, we must treated then differently in order to prevent complications,improve the quality of care and lessen the nursing workload. |
