Objective: To investigate the degree of pain after esophageal cancer radiotherapy, to understand the impact of pain after radiotherapy on the quality of life of patients with esophageal cancer, provide the basis for the clinical analgesic treatment. Methods: A brief Pain Questionnaire (BPI) was used for 80 patients with radical radiotherapy for esophageal cancer admitted between December 2015 and December 2016. The patient's post-radiotherapy pain on the quality of life was assessed. Results: Mild pain occurred in 29 cases, accounting for 36.25%; moderate pain in 39 cases accounted for 48.75%; severe pain in 12 cases accounted for 15%. Tumor located in the upper esophagus was more advanced than the middle and lower esophagus, with a significant difference (P<0.05). There was no significant difference of age, sex and staging in the pain after radiotherapy. After radiotherapy, pain and radiation injury were positively correlated. There was a significant statistical difference (P<0.01). Post-radiotherapy pain and endoscopic performance was also positively correlated. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The study also showed that pain was severe and had a greater effect on patient's daily life, mood, mobility, sleep and life pleasure with significant differences (P<0.01). Conclusion: There is obvious pain in patients with esophageal cancer after radiotherapy, which has an impact on the quality of life. It is necessary to strengthen the management of pain during radiotherapy, timely and effectively evaluate the degree of pain, give pain management, and improve the quality of life of patients. |
