Objective: To explore the ultrafast pulse wave velocity(ufPWV) technique on the quantitative evaluation of carotid artery elasticity in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD).Methods: 41 CKD patients were selected as the experimental group and 97 non-CKD(nCKD)individual from physical examination center were selected as control group. The ufPWV technique was used to detect the pulse wave index, including beginning of systole(BS) velocity and end of systole(ES) velocity. Every individual had two BS data and two ES data due to the left and right side. Each group was divided into hyperlipidemia subgroup and normal lipid subgroup according to hematic fat. Results: ES in experiment group was higher than that in control group(P<0.05). However, the BS had no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). In experimental group, there were no significant difference in ES and BS between the hyperlipidemia subgroup and normal lipid subgroup(P>0.05). In control group, ES of hyperlipidemia subgroup was significantly higher than that of normal lipid subgroup, but there was no significant difference in BS between the two subgroups(P<0.05).Conclusion: The carotid artery elasticity in CKD patients is poor than that in nCKD individual. The ufPWV technique can quickly measure the ES of carotid artery in CKD patients. It provides a novel and convenient method to evaluate vascular elasticity in patients with CKD. |
