Objective: To provide data support for the clinical application of homocysteine(HCY) by investigating the serum HCY level and the influencing factors. Methods: People who participated in physical examination in Nanjing Meishan Hospital from January 2018 to December 2018 were selected as the research objects. The differences in HCY and blood lipid-related indexes of 1 848 workers of different genders undergoing physical examination were analyzed. Single-factor and multi-factor Logistic regression models were used to explore the main influencing factors of HCY increase. Results: HCY[13.09(11.10-15.60)μmol·L-1], triglycerides(TG)[1.70(1.19-2.55)mol·L-1], low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)[2.64(2.21-3.09)mol·L-1] were higher in males than in females[9.83(8.40-11.52)μmol·L-1, 1.17(0.84-1.71)mol·L-1, 2.52(2.11-2.96)mol·L-1](P<0.05), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)[1.17(1.03-1.34)mol·L-1], lipoprotein(A)[LP(a)] [113.00(55.00-248.00)mol·L-1]was lower than those of females 1.42(1.23-1.63), 170.00(80.75-406.00)mol·L-1]respectively(P<0.05). Univariate analysis showed that age, gender, TG, HDL-C were the influencing factors of HCY rise; multi-factor analysis found that gender was an independent risk factor for HCY(OR=7.69, 95%CI:4.48-13.20), blood lipid-related indicators did not affect the level of HCY. Conclusion: HCY and blood lipid-related indicators are different by gender, so gender differences should be considered when applying HCY test to physical examination and screening |
