Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of BioclearTM matrix systems in the minimally invasive treatment of anterior tooth defects and interdental diastema, and to provide new insights for aesthetic minimally invasive anterior restorations. Methods: Thirty patients(64 teeth diagnosed with tooth defects or interdental diastema) who presented at the Department of Endodontics, the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Anhui Medical University from September 2021 to September 2024 were selected and randomly divided into two groups using a random number table. The control group and the experimental group were restored using polyester matrix strips and BioclearTM matrix systems, respectively, to assist in reconstructing proximal contours. The operative time and marginal adaptation of the restorations were recorded and compared between the two groups. The restorative outcomes were evaluated immediately after the procedure and at 12 months postoperatively. Results: In the experimental group the operative time was significantly shorter, and the proportion of restorations without marginal overhangs was significantly higher than in the control group(all P<0.001). In terms of marginal sealing, significant differences were observed between the two groups both immediately and at 12 months postoperatively(all P<0.05). Regarding gingival health status, no significant difference was found immediately after treatment(P>0.05), but at 12 months, the experimental group showed better gingival health than the control group(P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences between the two groups at different time points in terms of restoration integrity, color match, marginal staining, surface roughness, postoperative sensitivity, or secondary caries(all P>0.05). Conclusion: The use of BioclearTM matrix systems can effectively reduce operative time and improve clinical outcomes in terms of marginal adaptation, sealing ability, and gingival health, making it worthy of clinical promotion and application. |
